Audience

This one is sort of a catch up post. We were tasked with deciding on a target audience for our game. Due to the nature and subject of our game, we initially looked at the 5+ demographic, because this group would openly appeal to our games theme and subject. However we eventually decided to open our horizons a bit and go for the 12-15 demographic. It took us some time to come up with a way of portraying the farmer, his animals and the trains in a more edgy way. But eventually Jen came up with the concept of using a similar style that was and is used in the cartoon "Happy Tree friends". It made sense that the consequences of the termination condition i.e. being that you get run over by a train and that the farmer would be sent to the hospital. That would ultimately be reflected in its graphical representation. We could not help but think to ourselves that maybe our concept needed to take a similar turn to make it what we would like it to be and to also increase its appeal with regards to how we intend the game to work and function.
